Belize is developing the use of the Common Alerting Protocol, which should become available in 2024. In the short term, the country utilizes public messaging via radio and television announcements, social media and public education campaigns. Early warning siren systems are in place for dam failures and tsunamis.

Intelligence and information sharing is achieved through the National Emergency Operations Centre, and through the use of operational committees which are activated during emergencies.
The most developed mechanism focuses on hydrometeorological threats (tropical storms, hurricanes) and is led by the National Meteorological Service.
