Law #8488, in Article 10, designates the Regional, Municipal, and Community Emergency Committees as one of its coordination bodies: “Permanent coordination bodies at the regional, municipal, and community levels. Through them, the Commission fulfills its coordination function with public institutions, private organizations, non-governmental organizations, and civil society groups working in emergency and disaster response. They are composed of institutional or sectoral representatives with the highest authority at the respective level. Non-governmental, private, local, and community organizations will define their representation through their internal authority.
